Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson, who is seeking reelection this fall, has been endorsed by the Cleveland Building and Construction Trade Council.
The 27 affiliated unions of the trade council represent more than 14,000 highly-skilled employees. The trade council was established in 1913 and has provided more than a century of skilled union craftsmanship throughout Greater Cleveland.
“Mayor Jackson has been a staunch supporter and advocate for the good-paying jobs provide by our partner employer associations,” said David Wondolowski, executive secretary/business manager for the trade council. “He values the immeasurable amount of training that we offer our members, and he believes that we are truly the best in the business.”
The announcement was made Thursday morning, Aug. 17, at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland among a group of union supporters.
In 2013, the council signed an historic memorandum of understanding for community benefits with Mayor Jackson, the business community, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Cuyahoga County Community College. The agreement led to hundreds of union-apprenticeship opportunities for low-income and underemployed Clevelanders. Many of those opportunities have led to good-paying, full-time jobs throughout Greater Cleveland.
